George Mettrick
Site Manager

Professional Journey
George’s career began with technical rigor, earning an associate’s degree in Specialized Technology (RHVAC) from Triangle Tech in 1999. He entered the field as an HVAC service technician and installer for Primrose HVAC, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical systems and building diagnostics—a foundation that continues to shape his approach today.
He advanced into the Stationary Engineers Union and joined JJ Gumberg, where he progressed from service technician to management. During this time, George oversaw construction and operations at the Collaborative Innovation Center (CIC), guiding the building from development through full occupancy. He managed seven floors of tenant build-outs and led day-to-day building operations — including maintenance, security, parking, and vendor coordination—until the building’s acquisition by Carnegie Mellon University.
Today at Elmhurst, George manages Schenley Place with the same steady leadership, technical acumen, and tenant-first mindset he has honed throughout his career. His ability to collaborate with contractors, anticipate operational needs, and maintain an exceptional tenant experience strengthens one of Elmhurst’s most important innovation assets in the Oakland neighborhood.
“I get to work with people from all backgrounds — that’s what makes every day worthwhile.”
