Professional Journey
Mark has spent more than 35 years working in building maintenance and construction. Over the course of his career, he has built townhomes, renovated and flipped houses, and maintained both single-family properties and apartment buildings. That breadth of experience means he understands how every system—from the roof to the mechanical room—fits together, and how small details can make a big difference in daily operations.
Alongside his work in real estate, Mark served 30 years as a firefighter, ultimately retiring as an assistant chief. In that role, he was responsible not only for emergency response, but also for training new and younger firefighters to work safely under pressure. He led river-rescue training and helped shape the department’s approach to risk, communication, and teamwork—skills that translate directly into how he manages buildings and vendors today.
At Elmhurst, Mark serves the building’s day-to-day needs, coordinating with tenants, contractors, and service providers to keep operations as problem-free as possible. Whether he is scheduling preventative maintenance, troubleshooting an urgent issue, or walking the property to spot early warning signs, he approaches each task with a steady, practical focus. His experience in both public service and property maintenance supports Elmhurst’s commitment to disciplined stewardship and reliable tenant relationships.
“If a building works the way it should, most people never notice—and that’s exactly how I like it.”
Character Shaping Contribution
